Reyes Haircutters speeds up expansion

Rating 1.0/5 (2 votes)

ImageReyes Haircutters has opened a full-service salon in Boracay in a move to accelerate its expansion plans.

The Boracay branch joins the roster of franchises of the top salon chain, which was established in 1991 with the vision to provide affordable high-quality products and services to Filipino families.

“Reyes Haircutters Boracay is another first in the country as it is the only salon to offer complete services—from haircuts to foot spa—in the island,” says Les Reyes, chairman and chief executive of Reyes Hair Co. International Inc.

Reyes comes from a family of salon entrepreneurs, which started with “Mama Ada” of Ada’s Beauty Salon in the 1960s. He has a Masters of Entrepreneurship degree from the Asian Institute of Management and is a director of Strategic Franchising Concepts Inc. The franchise offers reasonably priced yet excellent salon services using high-quality products form globally renowned brands.

Each Reyes Haircutters salon is patterned after the typical Filipino neighborhood parlor, which has a homey appeal and offers competitive pricing for its services.

With its positioning as the Filipino family salon, Reyes Haircutters has tried to raise the level of the “parlor” experience by opening its doors to franchising to reach out to more communities. Since it opened, it has become the country’s fastest growing salon chain with over 200 branches nationwide.

Reyes Haircutters started with three company-owned stores. Since then, the company has opened its doors to interested entrepreneurs with a franchise fee ranging from P200,000 to P250,000.

Reyes Haircutters has a very attractive pricing scheme. A haircut with shampoo and blow dry can go as low as P49.99 and hot oil treatment, P99. While it has its own line of products such as astringent, soap, bleaching creams, shampoo and conditioner, the salon also uses those found in first-class salons such as L’Oreal Professionel, which sponsored the opening of the Boracay branch. The difference is that Reyes Haircutters offers hair coloring using L’Oreal Professionel at 30 percent lower than most salons.

Reyes Haircutters has also received awards from prestigious award-giving bodies such as The Philippine Franchise Association, where it is now a Hall of Fame awardee in the Outstanding Filipino Franchise of the Year category.

Reyes Haircutters believes that the industry should be professionalized. The salon chain is working with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for the certification of hairdressers and has its own Tesda-accredited training center for its personnel.

The company has set its sights on opening branches abroad to cater to Filipino communities in other countries. Reyes Haircutters has existing branches in London, New Jersey and Dubai. It plans to open salons in New York and Australia.
